Traffic Lanes
Sir, —The answer to my query on , the use of traffic lanes, given by the Traffic Superintendent filled the requirements asked, namely, that it is an offence to drive into the wrong lane. The question of penalty (wrongly asked by me) lies solely within the jurisdiction of the magistrate before whom the offender is arraigned. The duty of traffic officers is to encourage safe driving and to apprehend offenders. I wish to thank Mr Thomas for his courteous statement. Drivers may now take the wrong lane with a sense of guilt and hope for the best. —Yours, etc., CHAS. E. ALLEN. June 9, 1963.
