Two Of A Kind
A referee's dilemma when faced with opposing teams similarly attired was described to the Canterbury Football Association’s management committee last night by Mr W. W. Carruthers. The teams, Shirley Boys’ High School and Shirley High School Old Boys, were both clad in blue, with white shorts, he said.
When the ball was passed to the right wing, spectators did not know whether the player would continue the movement downfield or turn around and dribble the ball along the left wing towards the other goalmouth, said Mr R. Storer, who watched the match. Mr Carruthers recommended that as Old Boys were the younger club they should be required to change, their colours.
