OVERTIME BOYCOTT
Himalaya Not Affected
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 11. While the boycott on ordinary overtime work continues. Auckland waiterside workers will continue to handle baggage and effects for passengers on scheduled passenger liners.
On Saturday afternoon, watersiders will handle baggage and ca,rs for passengers arriving and leaving on the liner Himalaya, but ordinary cargo handling will come to a stop at noon The watersiders have Imposed a ban on overtime work to counter the Auckland Harbour Board's imposition of charges for use of two of its waterfront car parks. By avoiding overtime the waterside workers can make use of normal public transport. The employers are continuing to announce overtime work for ships in the normal manner, but it is not being accepted.
Resolutions supporting the Auckland union’s actions, carried by unions at other ports, are being conveyed to the Auckland watersiders.
The dispute is being handled by the Federation of Labour, whose acting-presi-dent, Mr T. E. Skinner, was in Whangarei today arranging proposals for a new agreement with glassworkers.
