NINE GIRLS ABSCOND
Clothes Taken From Store (N2 Press Association; AUCKLAND June 11 Nine girls absconded from the Allsoda to girls' home in M hmm Albert tonight after one of them had crawled along the celling foists under the root of the home and smashed through a plaster ceiling to get clothes from a Storeroom The girls were repored tn’womg so>>n after 530 pm The girls were wearing pyjamas and they could not ge" at the clothing store because it was locked One girl is believed to have climbed through a manhole in the ceiling of a corridor and clambered on to the joists She then made her way along the joists under the roof until she was above the storeroom A hole was then smashed through the paster ceiling Clothing was gathered from the room and the girl returned to the joists by a ladder m the storeroom The girls are aged between 1* and 17 It is not known what clothing they have obtained They had not been found late tonight Trawler On Slip (N Z Press AuocMHmi* WHANGAREi June 11 The Auckland trawler St George was put on the slip In Auckland »his morning after »he had sprung a leak while aground at the mouth of the Whangarei Harbour yesterday The St George, skippered by Mr W R McKenzie, of Auckland ran aground while making for Urquarts Bay early yesterday morning.
