A negro was admitted to the previously all-white Armstrong College in Savannah, Georgia, today, under heavy police guard, United Press International reported. The president of Armstrong College, Mr Foreman Hawes, revealed the admission, saying: “A negro who has completed his freshman year elsewhere and who has applied for admission to Armstrong for the summer term has met in full the entrance requirements of the institution, been admitted and registered.”
