Baron's Craig, the likely favourite for the Manawatu Steeplechase on Saturday, showed that he is ready to make amends for his Wanganui defeat when he galloped impressively over a mile with Russett and Powerful at Awapuni today. Kenloch. a candidate for the Collinson Hurdles,-, ran a pleasing trial Others to acquit themselves well included Silver Theme, Catty, Prince Murat, Cogent and Princess Merit On the inside trail Baron's Craig, Russett and Powerful ran a mile. Baron’s Craig went well for a steeplechaser. He has evidently trained on the right way since Wanganui. His prospects of winning the Manawatu Steeplechase appear bright. Russett just beaten in the Century Hurdles, is ready for a bold effort in the Collinson Hurdles Powerful is to resume racing on the flat at Hawera next week. >
