Power Failure In St. Albans
Power was off m the St Albans area for two hours and a quarter last evening A circuit breaker in the Springfield road sub-station failed to open This caused an overload tn other parts of the system and a consequent breakdown in supply The failure commenced at 6 pm and power was restored at 815 pm
The area affected was bounded oy Papanui road Bealey avenue. Caledonian road and Edeeware road Two attempts were made by MED employees to restore power during the failure but It was not possible to do so until al) points overloaded had been located Minor repairs wil’ be done today The traffic lights at the tn tersectton of Bealev avenue Papanui road and Victoria street were out ■>! action during the failure Calvary Hospital was also in the affected area but the hospital was able to change over to its own emergency supply
