56 U.S.A.F. Cadets To Visit Christchurch
Fifty-six cadets from the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs will arrive in Christchurch on Ju..< 23 for a six-day visit to New Zealand Four staff offi cers. headed by Colonel G J Cameron, will be with the cadets
They left the academy on June 6 stopped in Hawaii for three days, and are at present touring Australian cities On arrival m Christchurch in a USAF Hercules they will live at >wo city hotels
Or. Monday June 24. the cadet.' will visit RNZ Ar Station Wigrain where they will be welcomed by the com manding office 1, (Group Captain Robins) and addressed by the Chief of Air Staff (Air Vice-Marshal I G Morrison) After being shown over the sation they will compete in
a sports afternoon with Wigram men
Than evening, the cadets wil) attend a dance at the officers' club of the United States Navy Antarctic task force at Christchurch Airport On Tuesday morning they will take oft from Christchurch m then Hercules for a scenic flight over the West Coss’ and Southland After returning to Christchurch and lunching at the airport they wi ' then "o on a tour of the eity and suburbs A stop will be made so that they can inspect the Lyttelton tun nel project Nothing is planned for Wed nesday morning but at 1 p m the cadets wil) Lay a wreath a< the memorial in Cathedral square They will leave for Awkiand at 245 pm From ’here they will denari for Fiji and home on Saturday fune 29 Eacn year the academy, sends its cadets on such tours This year while some are touring Australia and New Zealand other groups are visiting the Far East and South America, and two grixipe are going to Europe
