Boxing 3-1 VICTORY OVER N.S.W.
Lister Twins Successful

New Zealand scored a 3-1 victory over New South Wales in a thrilling amateur boxing tournament at Gisborne on Saturday. The Gisborne twins, Peter and Paul Lister, gave an outstanding exhibition for a double victory, while Toro George (Auckland) scored the third win.
The light-weight, Peter Lister, was the outstanding fighter of the evening. His devastating punching forced a points defeat of the Australian M. Cartner.
Paul Lister, the welter-weight, carried too many guns for S Calabrese who showed ability and willingness to mix it but had to concede defeat on points George was lucky to get a points verdict over the elusive C. Stone.
The Australian bantam-weight. W. Booth, gained the only win for New South Wales over K Burt (Auckland). Results of New Zealand trials for the team to tour Australia. were:— Light Welter-weight. W Jones (Gisborne) defeated B Black (Whakatane). t.k.o. in the third round. Fly-weight.—M. Watts (Gisborne) defeated T. Wright (Manawatu), on points. Light Welter-weight.—D. Kaulinia knocked out D. Paramore (Manawatu), in third round; M. Santos knocked out P. Gibson (Hawke’s Bay) in first round Welter-weight. F. Bruno (Auckland) defeated G. Dooney (Manawatu). on points.
