Fewer Rural Land Sales
Transfers of rural properties decreased from 8455 in 1961-62 to 7289 in 1962-63. according to the Acting Government Statistician, Mr W A. Butterworth. The amount of money involved dropped from £ 63.3 m to £ 49.5 m.
The bulk of the transfers were of freehold properties The 6782 freehold transfers last year involved 1.135.464 acres and £ 46.2 m changed hands The average price an acre was £4O 72 compared with £41.6 an the previous year. Transfers of rural leasehold land totalled only 507, involving an area of 209,736 acres and £3.3m.
