* Twenty-two rising two-year-old heifers and nine rising yeanling bulls sold at toe second annual • sale of the Doloraine Friesian stud of N. J. Sherriff and Sons, of Milford, Temuka, averaged 143 l-3gns each. Proceeds from toe sale exceeded 4400gns. The rising two-year-old heifers, ranging in price from 100 to 200gns, averaged •145gns, and the rising yearling bulls. Which brought from 100 to 190gns, averaged 139gns Buyers came from all over toe South Island and also from the North Island. A North Island buyer, J. Damiels, of Masterton. bought heifers at 200, 180, and 170gns R. J. Brown, of Oamaru. paid ISOgns for one of the bulls. . The sale was conducted by toe New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association of Canterbury, Ltd, the Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd, and Dalgety and New Zealand Loan, Ltd.
Friesians Sold At Leeston
Friesian female cattle brought up to 155gns at a sale at Leeston last week.
Five two-year-old or rising two-year-old heifers from the Pitcadrns stud of E. L. Adams, Brookside, sold from 50 to 155gns and averaged 109gns B. Chambers (Lakeside) paid 155gns for one of these caftle and J. M. Hewson (Temuka) paid 150gns. One rising one-year-old heifer from the same stud realised 85gns and two cows rising eight-years-old and nine - years - old brought 75 and 95gns respectively. X Fpur rising two-year-old cattle from E. C. Sunckell’s Welbum stud made from 75 to 95gns at auction and-aver-aged w slightly in excess of 80gns, and a rising nine-year-old cow made 57jgns. A. D. Oliver (Springhead Stud, Hororata) sold a rising two-year-old heifer art 52|gns. a five-year-old cow at 60gns. and a rising six-year-old at 55gns.
The sale was conducted by the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association of Canterbury. Ltd., and Dalgety and New Zealand Loan. Ltd.
