Rugby On TV

Sir,—lt seems incredible to me that grown—and supposedly intelligent—men can waste so much time over a game of Rugby, in the endless, pointless, boring discussions back and forth about whether or not a schoolboys’ match should be televised An unimportant matter such as this seems capable of provoking more discussion in your columns than such important questions of the hour as the coming French bomb test, which is only one among many problems that vitally concern us all in this country. The ‘ * superior ’ ’ male often looks down on women’s ’‘silly” ways, i.e.. her slavish following of outrageous fashions; but this Rugby correspondence proves that men can be just as silly, in their own way.—Yours, etc., ANDROMEDA. June 8, 1963.
