ATTACK ON KURDS
Warning By Iraq
IN Z PA -Reuter—Copyright) BAGDAD. June 10 A resumption of war against the Kurds in the north of the country was announced today by the Iraqi Government
The Government called on the Kurds to lay down their arms or "oay the consequences.”
A statement by the National Council of the Revolutionary Command Iraq's ruling body broadcast by Radio Bagdad this morning, said:
"Starting from today we are clearing the northern area of the remnants of Barzani ’Mulla Mustafa Barzani the Kurdish guerrilla leader' and the northern area is considered operational" The statement accused the Kurds of starting attacks avsinst Government forces while negotiations were going on in Bagdad Bomb Warning It warned Sulaimaniyah and other northern towns not to protect the insurgents. Any village doing so would be bombed
The Kurdish . leader. Jalal Talabani said in Beirut last week the Kurds wanted selfrule by a Parliament elected by the people of Kurdistan 'ine Government statement said Kurds had been harbouring Communists, criminals and persons wanted by the Government and had refused to hand them over.
