Arrests In Syria

CAIRO. June 10.
There had been an “arrests campaign all over Syria” in the last 24 hours, the authoritative Cairo newspaper “Al Ahram” said today.
In a dispatch from its Beiru* correspondent the newspaper reported that Brigadier Fawaz Mehareb a i..ember of the Revolutionary Council and a signatory of the recent Cairo Union Declaration was in Mazza prison He had refused to take up a diplomatic post abroad the newspaper said The maes-cireulatiuft “Al Akhbar” said 1000 member* of the Unionist party, with
120 officers and non-commis-sioned officers, had been arrested
The only charge against them was that "they are Nasscrites." the newspaper said
A Syrian Government spokesman claimed in Damascus last night two Israeli jet planes and a gunboat attacked a Syrian outpost and a village on the east shore of Lake Galilee yesterday morning.
The gunboat opened fire with machine guns and heavy mortars .on the outpost near the village of Doka Later, two Israeli jet planes soared over Doka village and shelled it with rockets and fired machine guns, the spokesman said Syria has filed an urgent complaint with the United Nations Security Council and with the United Nation* supervisory body again*' what he termed "repeated Israel i a ggressi ons ”
