Gaining a 9-0 win over Dunsandel. Leeston»took the lead in the senior competition when the Ellesmere sub-union's matches were played on Saturday. Both teams were unbeaten before the match, which was fairly close throughout. Leeston, with 12 points, has a two-point lead over Dunsandel and New Zealand Regiment A, which are second equal. Results were:—
Senior.—N.Z. Regiment A 20. Peninsula 3; Southbridge 24, Springston 3; Irwell 22, Lincoln 5; Leeston 9, Dunsandel 0. Junior.—N.Z. Regiment 8, Prebbleton 6; Leeston 3, Burnham 0; Southbridge 11, Lincoln 10. Third Grade.—Leeston 22. Waihora 6; Peninsula 6, Lincoln 6. Fourth Grade.—Lincoln 20. Rolleston 9; WaihoTa 6, Leeston 0. Fifth Grade.—Lincoln B 14, Burnham 5: Lincoln A 15, Waihora 0: Prebbleton 5. Dunsandel 3: Leeston 20, Irwell 0.
