WANGANELLA LATE
High Seas In Tasman (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 9 After being tossed about in the Tasman in high seas, the Wanganella arrived in Auckland from Sydney on Saturday afternoon. The ship berthed seven hours later than the estimated arrival time. Bad weather struck the Wanganella as soon as the ship cleared Sydney heads, said Captain F. A. Simpson. Although no damage to the ship was reported, many of the 205 passengers spent the trip in their cabins. The Wanganella was struck by 60 miles an hour winds, and the barometer dropped to 29 inches, the lowest he had seen for a long time, said Captain Simpson. This afternoon the Wanganella sailed for a Pacific Islands cruise.
Witnesses Wanted. The police want to interview any persons who saw a collision between a car and a taxi in Cathedral square at 7.45 p.m. on Saturday. The car did not stop. The accident occurred near the Bank of New Zealand corner. The car was travelling west and the taxi south.
