“Mystery Horse” Is Rochdale (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) i BRISBANE, June 7. The New Zealand-owned Rochdale is the “mystery horse” of the Stradbroke Handicap In Brisbane tomorrow Weighted at 9-4, he has 31b more than he had when he won the mile Eipsom last September. He has raced five times since for three seconds, all in top-class races. Rochdale is not a fast beginner and generally gets well back in the field. That is not a recommendation in a race like this. His work this week has been excellent. Plantation is a New Zealand sprinter with excellent credentials. He has twice won in New Zealand over seven furlongs and has run fast times. His nose defeat at Bundamba on Saturday from number 21 stall over six furlongs stamped him as a class sprinter. He drops 81b and must be one of the best prospects in a race that fairly bristles with them.
Kilshery and Rochdale continue their “neck and neck” struggle for favouritism.
