SCAFFOLDING COLLAPSE
Workman Awarded £3850 Damages
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 31. General damages of £3850 were awarded to Francis Edward Pratt in the Supreme Court today in a claim for injuries received at work against the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd. The jury, after an hour, decided that the defendant was negligent and caused the accident
Pratt was injured at Bluff in July, 1960, when the scaffold on which he was working, collapsed. He claimed general damages of £4750 and special damages of £1250. In the claim for special damages the jury found the plaintiff unjustifiably delayed his return to employment before February 1 and his claim for loss of wages will be reduced by four months.
