One of the world's major collections of antique silver the Brownlow collection, was old at an international auction at Christies sale-rooms London, yesterday, tor a total of £141.300 The total was the highest ever paid for a silver collection in London, and dealers from many parts of the world attended Many of the pieces bear the coats of arms of Eng!i«h Monarchs of the past who had parted with them to -aise cash.

yet known if they did *o. A George 111 silver dinner service, made for a Speaker of the House of Commons who was an ancestor of Lord Brownlow. was aold for £22.500.

Some of the piecM were sold by the extravagant Prince Regent, later George IV. to enable him to eetablirh his estranged wife in apartments in Kensington Palace. A huge wine cistern designed to hold four dozen bottles of champagne, was ajeo for sale, but failed to reach the reserve price Lord Brownlow was Parliamentary private aecretary to Lord Beaverbrook when the latter was Minister of Aircraft Productian in World War 11. He was previously personal lord-in-waitlng to King Edward VIII
