The New Zealand Rugby League officials are taking no chances of injuring their star players in the nexit match against the powerful Newcastle side on Saturday. They have omitted five probable test men—G. R Phillips, N. L. Denton, K- R McCracken, M L. Cooke, and R. D. Hammond—from me team Newcastle, which defeated the Kiwis in 1950 and the touring Greet Britain side last year, always provides tough opposition The Kiwi team will be chosen from the following 17.—Full-back: J. E. Fagan; wings: F. White, B. T. Reidy; centres: R. W Bailey, R K. Griffiths. G. M. Kennedy; five-eighths: J. D. Ellwood. J. A Bond; halfbrck: W L Snowden; loose forward: H R. Sinel; second row: R. C Ackland, B. S Lee. R D Hammond: front row: S. K Edwards, H. K. Emery; hooker, R J. Butterfield, G C. Blackler.
Griffiths could be moved to the wing to replace White, and Ackland could be used at loose forward. The tourists have had a charmed run with injuries so far. After tour games they have not had one player miss training and ail are fit The Newcastle side will include the captain of the 1961 Australian teem which toured New Zealand, B. Carlson.
