For Sure Sprints Fast At Wingatui

DUNEDIN, May 30. A fast trial by For Snre and Boawood, and attractive gallops by Kumai, Desert Chief, and Palisade were features of the final work for the Dunedin Joekey club’s winter meeting at Wingatui this morning. Boawood will test the hack milers in the St. Clair Intermediate Her most recent form has been disappointing but she won early in the year, and is capable of surprising. Desert Chief (R N. Marsh) worked over a mile and a half. J Skelton) sprinted from the three furlongs in 41.6. Cashmere (R. J Skelton i -winded off solid pace work by coming home in 42.0. He is doing well ta nis preparation.

Tombob (J. Low) ran another good trial on the plough. He was under a hold when he ran the opening furlong in 13.0, and completed half a mile in 53.0. He is a fit challenger for the Winter Handicap, and with plaeings tn his last three starts he will not lack support. Ravelston (Cairns) gave a mixed display of jumping over four hurdles at * sound pace He to a better jumper than this oerforr,-,ance would suggest, and is the likely favourite for the Greenfield Hurdles.

A more pleasing effort was recorded by his stablemates Matlock (R O. Cairns) and The Slug (R. A. Low). Port Lanyard (R. O. Calrnsi was not Interested In a school over two brushes after a strong workout over a round on the oourse proper. This Otago Steeples fancy is a different proposition on race day, and will be attempting his fourth win in succession.
