Transfers And Additions

Inexperience in business management, resulting in financial difficulties was the reason given by B. G. Richardson, Ltd. (Mr J. A. Brotherton), for the transfer of the company’s continuous goods service licence to , Oxford Transport (Christchurch), Ltd., to the No. 9 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr J. S. Haywood).

Mr H. W. Thpmpson, who appeared for Peter Richard Womersley and Stanley Hobbs, the trustees of Oxford Transport which is in the process of being incorporated, said that the trustees were both experienced in the transport business. The authority agreed to the transfer and also to an amendment that one vehicle authority be deleted from the licence and transferred to Eric Clifford Hughey (Mr B. S. McLaughlin) to carry shingle, sand, rock, and spoil. The authority granted the application by Donald Wilding, of Waiau (Mr B. J. Stanley) for an additional vehicle authority to carry general goods to be added to his continuous goods service licence.

Mr Stanley said that the additional authority was necessary if his client was to cope with his present custom and provide an adequate service.

Approval was given to tihe application of A. W. McKay, Ltd., Dunedin (Mr Bretherton) for the company to take over the continuous goods service licence which included two vehicle authorities, from Bruce Bernard Chisnail, trading as Hatewell Transport, Christchurch Mr McKay had recently sold out in Dunedin and was in the process of transferring the registration of his company from the Dunedin register of companies to Christchurch, said Mr Bretherton.

Mr Chisnail was not in financial difficulties, said Mr Brotherton. He was going to Kaikoura to take up fishing, for which he had been granted a licence. The application by Central Carrying Company, Ltd. (Mr Brotherton) for the amendment of the company’s continuous goods service licence to include two additional vehicle authorities to carry general goods, was granted by the authority. The authority also approved the addition of one vehicle authority to the continuous goods service licence of Reginald John Herman <Mr H. W. Hunter).
