HANSONS LANE FLOODING

Complaint From Businessmen

The depth of stormwater flooding which appeared quickly after heavy ram and flowed across Hansons lane, building up in front of the shops between Auburn avenue and Hansons lane, was causing concern to the Upper Riccarton Business Association, the Waimairi County Council told the Christ:church Drainage Board. j The association said it was I almost impossible to cross ;the road, and people getting out of buses and cars ex(perienced considerable inconvenience.

Only major stormwater work could relieve the flooding, the board’s works committee said. It was proposed to build a stormwater drain in Waimairi road, which would cost about £14,000. This could not be financed out of revenue and would have to be considered when future land drainage loans were being arranged.
