FACTORY FIRE
Two Suffer Burns (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 28. Two persons were admitted to Auckland Hospital with burns suffered when fire broke out in a steel furniture factory. Modem Craft Manufacturing. Ltd., in Station road, Henderson, at 1.20 p.m. today. The injured are: Mark van Leeuwen, aged 37, of Hendemson, the owner of the factory, bums to the face, arms and hands, and
Mrs Emily Dawson, a factory worker, of Sunnyvale. Henderson, burns to the face, legs and arms. Both were in a satisfactory condition tonight. The Are started in a Lacquer painting room where Mrs Dawson was working "The whole room seemed to burst Into flames,” said Mr R B. Aftchieon, of Massey "Mr van Leeuwen went in to get Mrs Dawson, and his overalls caught fire ” Mr Aitchteon and the foreman, Mr F. Dykgraaf, of Glen Eden, dragged the pair from the burning room just before several tins of paint thinners exploded. Part of the fibreglass roof was destroyed before the Henderson Volunteer Fire Brigade brought the blaze under control. The damage is expected to run into several hundred pounds.
