Guard* Outdone “Better than the Scots Guards,*' was how the captain of the touring English Rugby team (M. P. Weston) described a marching display by the girls of St. Joseph Maori Girls* College at Greenmeadows, Hawke’s Bay, yesterday morning. The 23 players and five officials of the team arrived at the college at about 10.30. They were greeted by a guard of honour of local schoolboy Rugby players and the team was presented with roses by the Mayor of Taradale (Mr A. W. Miller).—(P.A.)

Local Flood The Christchurch Drainage Board, the target for complaints in times of floods in the city, had its own-private flood recently. Cleaners forgot to turn off a tap on a water heater in the board’s planning division offices in Colombo street. A day passed before this was discovered and offices on floors below the division's offices were flooded, causing damage to stock. Shepherd’s Find A page of “The Weekly Press” exhibited by Dr. L. C. L. Averill at the St. George’s Hospital theatre appeal meeting yesterday showed photographs of the opening of the hospital in February, 1928. The copy of the paper from which the page came was found recently by a shepherd in a hut on the property of Dr. Averill’s son-in-law, Mr P Fox, of Foxdown. Scargill, and passed on to Dr. Averill. Test Casualties Between 50 and 60 St. John ambulance men will be at Lancaster Park next Saturday to deal with any casualties that occur among the large crowd expected for the second Rugby test between New Zealand and England.
