FUNERAL TODAY
Burial In Plot For Seamen th 2 Preet Association) WELLINGTON, May 16. A large crowd is expected to attend the funeral of the late Mr F. P. Walsh, which will leave for Karori cemetery from a mortuary in The Terrace. Wellington, at 11 am. tomorrow. The cortege will stop for a short time outside the offices jit the Seamen's Union, also on The Terrace. Mr Walsh ie to be buried in the special plot set aside for seamen, near the grave of a former Prime Minister, Mr P. Fraser. About a dozen seamen are buried there. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) will fly back from Auckland tomorrow and will attend the funeral with the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand). The Federation of Labour will be represented by members of its national executive. Members of the Seamen’s Union exeutive will also be present. Leaders of* other trade unions will also attend.
All work in the port of Wellington will cease for a
few minutes at 11 a.m. as workers pay their last respects to Mr Walsh.
At Mr Walsh’s own request no flowers are to be sent.
He said that if anyone wished to pay some kind of tribute they could contribute to the Freedom from Hunger campaign in his memory.
