No Invasion Launched
tN.Z. Press Assn.—Copynghn SANTO DOMINGO, May 16 Highly - publicised Hailan exile plans to invade Haiti and topple the Duvalier regime collapsed yesterday. United Press International reported. In the meantime in- Port-au-Prince, Press de rut Duvalier officially took the title of ■ Chief of the Revolution” today on expiration of his constitutional six-yeac term as chief executive. Dr. Duvalier, who declared himself re-elected for six years in a 1961 Congressional election, is due to be inaugurated for his next term on May 22. In the intervening week, he will act as revolutionary chief. This was the day Duvalier's political enemies abroad were to have launched so-called “Operation Dry-clean." when they expected to oust Dr. Duvalier from office by force.
Port-au-Prince was calm, however. U.P.I. said.
In Port-au-Prince today President Duvalier, in a personal meeting with a group of American correspondents denied reports that he plans to flee the country.
