CALL FOR ELECTION
“Clear Notice To Quit” (N.Z.P Copyright) SOUTHAMPTON, May 11. The Labour Party leader (Mr Harold Wilson) yesterday said the longer the Prime Minister (Mr Macmillan) waited to call a general election, “the more serious it will be for the country.” He told a news conference in Southampton that the "magnificent” results of the local election were clear notice to quit to Mr Macmillan’s Government. “The timing of a general election is a matter for Mr Macmillan and he does not take me into his confidence. But I should think he is a very rattled and worried man for he must know what an early election means.”
