MALVERN GAMES
Darfield defeated United by 17 points to 3 in the Malvern Sub-union competitions on Saturday. Darfield made every effort to use its backs and J Hotop and H. Heeney stood out in this department. S. Mitchell, H. Mitchell, and A. Hopkinson were the best of the Darfield forwards. Darfield's pointe came from tries by J. Ghent, S. Mitchell. H. Mitchell and M. Redfern (2) A. Hopkinson kicked one conversion. United’s points came from a try in the corner. The referee was Mr R. Stevenson; Kirwee played its best game of the season to defeat Hororata by 12 points to 3 Klrwee’s back combination was better Of the backs M. Milliken. J Flutey. J Dysart and J. Martin were always prominent. B Hurst, I. Smith and G. Middleton were the best of the Kirwee forwards. For Hororata P. Blakey and M. McCullum were prominent on defence. J. Olliver. the hooker, had a field day and was the outstanding forward. For Kriwee tries were scored by Milliken, B. Hurst and Calder. Calder also kicked a penalty. O. McCabe scored a try for Hororata which P. Reddington converted. The referee was Mr G. Wright
