REPORTERS ADMITTED
Some Reports To Conference (NZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 8 The Labour Party’s annual conference today, for the first time, decided to admit reporters to discussions on Sone of its remits and reports. Earlier in the week delegatee broke with precedent by admitting the press to a couple of addresses, though at first, this privilege was extended only to radio journalists Today the conference began its session by debating whether the press should be admitted to discussion on the Maori policy committee's report. but Maori delegates preferred to discuss this in private. The report was released for publication later. When the report of the land and agriculture committee was presented, however, another vote was taken and it was decided to admit reporters—a decision later endorsed with only a few dissentients when it came to consideration of the policy and extemaj affairs committee report When the financial policy report was presented the conference decided it should go “into committee," but reporters were not specifically barred from hearing the discussions.
