Rangiora
Three parsons, including a husband and wife, were injured when a utility vehicle and a car collided head-on near Rangtora about 3 p.m. yesterday.
Mrs Kathleen Mary McLean, of Leithfield. suffered head, face and leg injuries. She was admitted to She Christchurch Hospital, then transferred to the Burwood Hospital. Her condition is reported as fairly satisfactory. Her husband, Mr A. L. McLean, suffered head injuries and was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. His condition last night was also faiirly satisfactory. One ambulance from Rangiora and another from Christchurch were called. Mr Leslie William Stuart, an oil company employee, of the Papanui Motor Camp, suffered shock. He was discharged after treatment at the Christchurch Hospital. The collision occurred on the Rangiora-Loburn road, north of the Ashley bridge Mr Stuart was driving south, and Mr and Mrs McLean were in a car going north. Both vehicles were considerably damaged.
The Harvard aerobatic team from the Royal New Zealand Air Force's Central Flying School at Wigram will today give a display above the Timaru waterfront at lunch time. The aerobatic team will be led by Flight Lieutenant D. J. Reid. The display is to coincide with the first combined recruiting tour made in the South Island by the three armed services, which is being held at present at Timaru as a trial
