Freedom From Hunger Campaign
Those who have never gone hungry—and they include most New Zealanders—may find difficulty in imagining what hunger means to many millions of the world’s population. If only in gratitude for their own good fortune, New Zealanders should be readily moved to pity for their fellow-creatures whom the United Nations Freedom from Hunger Campaign is intended to succour. Tomorrow, household collections on behalf of this campaign will be held by
C.0.R.5.0. in most New Zealand towns and cities. Thousands of volunteers will devote their time to enlisting public support for what may be the most deserving humanitarian project in recent history: an attack on the causes of starvation, as well as the relief of its surviving victims. Householders sometimes weary of repeated appeals for good causes; but this cause specially merits the generous response of every New Zealander.
