PACIFIC FLIGHT
1 Hour’s Fuel At Landing
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) HONOLULU, May 2.
Mrs Betty Miller, who is flying alone over the Pacific, landed in Hawaii from California with only one hour’s fuel left according to the Associated Press. Mrs Miller, who is 37, is the first woman to make the 2400-mile flight from Oakland airport to Honolulu. Her flight time was 17hr 3m in and the aircraft should have had three hours’ fuel left. "I wasn’t worried,” Mrs Miller, an American housewife, said.
The Hawaii trip was the first stage of a solo flight to Brisbane, which will include stops at Canton and Fiji.
Mrs Miller said she would rest for a day or two before continuing her historymaking 7100-mile flight.
