CUSTOMS RETURNS
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 2. Revenue collected by the Customs Department in Wellington during April totalled £4.005,516 compared with £2,916.727 in April last year. Details are: Customs, £879.618 (£763,041 last year); sales tax. £1.036,589 (£328.616); motor spirit tax £1.724,169 (£1.423.8081: motor spirit duty. £218.942 (£180.800); tyre duty. £45 (£59); other. £146,153 (£220,408). DUNEDIN Customs revenue from the Port of Otago for the month of April shows an increase of £53,545 on the same month last year. Figures for the month are:— Customs duty, £165.880 (£134,910 in April last year); sales tax, £76.836 (£51,622); tyres, £2 (£429); miscellaneous. £126.464 (£128,676); total, £369,182 (£315.637),
