GREY LYNN SEAT
Candidates Chosen (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 25. Mr Ritchie Macdonald, member of Parliament for Ponsonby since 1946, was chosen today as Labour candidate for the Grey Lynn seat at the General Election in November. Mr R. A. Keeling, a former member for Gisborne and chairman of committees in the last Labour Government, was selected as candidate for the by-election on May 18 to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr F. Hackett. Mr Keeling has already been selected as Labour candidate for North Shore at the General Election. The two candidates were chosen before a large meeting of branch members held in the West Lynn Boys’ Club hall this afternoon. Three local delegates and three members of the national executive of the party were on the selection panel. There were four candidates, including Dr. A. M. Finlay, national president of the ■party, and Mr A» J. R Dreaver, a city councillor Each addressed the meeting for 15 minutes. After the General Election candidate was chosen the panel heard three candidates for the "caretaker” by-elec-tion selection.
Dr. Finlay was not in the by-election ballot
