Protest
More than SO petrol resellers had signed a protest against the statement by the Motor Spirits Licensing Authority on the restriction of the sale of different brands of motor spirits, said Mr D. A. Anderson, president of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Service Station Proprietors' Federation. The protest had been sent to the authority, he said. Mr Anderson said the notice to retailers to lodge their appeals within 14 days was received on the Thursday before Easter, which dad not give them much tone. It was not stated on what grounds the authority would allow a variation. Resellers wanted to know how long the restriction would be retained. They coneirierod the restriction would be tying them up.
