SHOUTS AT SERVICE
Reference To Trade
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, April 25.
Shouting broke out during an address at the dawn parade service in the Auckland domain today. The interjections came from the ranks of returned servicemen assembled in the Court of Honour when the speaker, the Rev. K. D. Mack, referred to Tasman trade. He was interrupted by a cry of, "No politics here.”
Mr Mack, who is minister of the Green Lane Congregational Church, said tonight that the interjection was an unfortunate incident’ as the dawn service had been a memorable one.
“I don’t think my remarks about trade between Australia and New Zealand had any relevance to politics —none whatsoever,” he said. Mr Mack is a former paratrooper in the Australian army. He later served as a chaplain with the Australian forces in Malaya.
