BREAK FROM N.C.W.
Move Was ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ The publicity which had been given to the recent decision of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Federation of University Women to seek disaffiliation of the federation from the National Council of Women had been "much ado about nothing," said the Dominion President of the N.C.W. (Mrs W. Grant) at a meeting of the Christchurch branch of the council on Thursday even-
ing. When the motion for disaffiliation was put before the annual meeting of the Canterbury branch of the N.Z.F.W,. there were 28 members present, said Mrs Grant The motion had been passed by a vote of 18 to 10. However, the total membership of the branch was 180, which meant that in fact only 18 out of 180 had supported disaffiliation. she said. Nothing further would be done about the Canterbury N.Z.F.U.W. resolution until •next Dominion conference, and the publicity the resolution had received “right from Inv«x»rgill to Auckland” had been most unfortunate, said Mrs Grant. . Reports from the recent Dominion Executive meeting in Wellington were given by Miss M. E. Saunders (actingpresident of the Christchurch branch of N.C.W.), Mrs W. W Averill (Christchurch delegate)) and Mrs Grant.
