GREEK LINER ON FIRE.—A fire tender playing hoses on the Greek liner Bretagne (16,356 tons), burning in Elevsis Bay, eight miles north-west of Athens. The ship was towed there and beached to prevent her sinking after she caught fire at the Hellenic Shipyards, where she was under repair. Ten of the 300 members of the crew who were on board when the fire broke out were injured. The liner developed engine trouble at the beginning of her run from Piraeus to Australia recently.
