BOWLS POST-SECTION PLAY IN EASTER FOURS TODAY

Competitors in the Christchurch Bowling Centre’s Easter tournament gazed sadly a>t the light drizzle that persisted throughout yesterday Any hope of play on the third day was definitely gone before midday The match committee has decided that the last two rounds of section play will be abandoned All fours with four or more wins will now take part in post-section play, which will commence today The change in the conditions will relieve those fours which had only three wins t. their -red it and no hope of going on to post-section play Oi. the other hand some fours with only four wins are very lucky to be taking part in post-section play Had the final two rounds of section play been held, they would not have qualified, for if they had won their first round, they would have been meeting another five-winner in the last, and one would have failed to qualify Thirty-nine fours have now qualified—two with six wins, seventeen with five wins, and twenty with four wins. Four games of two hours’ duration will be played today, starting at 9 a.m., and at the conclusion of these four rounds four fours will remain unbeaten. The semi-finals and final will be decided tomorrow The Morrison Avenue and Fendalton greens will be used for the post-section play.
