An Auckland skin-diver died this morning while he was diving in 30ft to 40ft of water at Palm Beech. Waiheke Island He was
Mr William Eric Halliday, aged 50. married, of Hamilton road. Papatoetoe. « A member of the Auckland Underwater Chib Mr Hallida; was diving with a friend and former instructor of the club in 30 to 40ft of water abm* 50 yards from the shore and had been down about half a. hour
Mr Halliday signalled that he was going to return to the surface His friend followed him a few seconds later and found Mr Halliday unconscious just below the surface
He was taken to the shore, wnere mouth-to-mouth resuscitation was applied A doctor who w?» called found him dead
Mr Halliday's diving equipment was stated to be in good order He bed been diving for about three years
