Rowing CLEAN SWEEP BY AUCKLAND
Canterbury Eight In Third Place (N2. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 14. Auckland made a clean sweep of this season’s major New Zealand rowing championships by winning the interprovincial eights on Saturday. Auckland had previously won the championship eights, fours, pairs and double and single sculls. With a magnificent exhibition of power rowing over the 2! mile Korokoro course, Auckland beat Otago by five lengths, with Canterbury a further three lengths away in third place Wellington was fourth and Wanganui last. The Auckland crew comprised seven of the Empire Games eight, plus a former International. K. Ashby, who rowed in the 1952 Olympics.
