Fall In Value Of Permits The number of building permits issued by the Christchurch City Council in the year to the end of last month showed a slight fall in comparison with the previous year’s figures—39Bl against 4064. The value of permits issued showed a much greater fall, from £5,810,642 to £4,664,722. The Linwood area, with 872, again had more permits than any other area. Next were St Albans (606), Spreydon (664), and New Brighton (511). In the year ended -March 31, 1962, leading areas were Linwood (1001), St Albans (792), Spreydon (575), and New Brighton (520) The value of • permits issued for building, in the city’s inner area showed a big fa11—£363,977 compared with £1,240,337 in the previous year. In value the leader was . Linwood, with permits to the value of £ 922.493 Spreydon, Woolston, and the outer central area were the only districts to show an increase in the value of permits issued last year
Last month 357 permits were issued (350 in 1962) to a total value of £325,354 (£478,881).
