Council’s Plan For Development
A tentative programme for the development of the Mount Pleasant-St. Andrews Hill area had been prepared by the City Engineer (Mr E. Somers), the Mount Pleasant Community Centre was told by Cr. W. E. Olds at its annual meeting. But adherence to the programme could not be guaranteed because of the council’s mandatory system of considering the estimates and rates annually Each year at estimate time, Cr Olds said unexpected work cropped up But Mr Somers had told him it was proposed to complete the Major Hornbrook road kerbing and channelling and path this year to the top of the street section past the Canon Hill subdivision. It could also be taken as reasonably sure that there would be paths on all streets within three years.
