H. Mercer». Applicants should have some experience of or interest in biological problems, but previous experience in electron microscopy is not essential. There is scope for research workers ot apply themselves to problems of their own choosing. There are two Electron Microscopes in the Unit. The salary range for Research Fellows is £A1656-2450; initial salary depends on qualifications and experience. Appointment is for three years with possible extension to a maximum of five years. VACANCIES PROFESSIONAL CHIEF MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST The Health Department require a Chief Medical Laboratory Technologist for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Rotorua. Salary up to £1465 p.a. The person appointed must hold a Certificate of Proficiency in Hospital Laboratory practice. Queen Elizabeth Hospital is the New Zealand National Centre for Rheumatic Diseases. In addition to routine duties the person appointed will be required to participate in the general research programme of the hospital. Other staff include a biochemist, staff bacteriologist, and two laboratory assistants. The scope of rheumatic laboratory work at the hospital is continually widening, with present emphasis on serology, protein fractions, metabolic disorder, renal functions. etc. Laboratory aspects of population survey are also covered.
