£25 Fine For Book Import
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 28. In the Magistrate’s Court, Dunedin, today the minimum fine, £25. was ordered by Mr J. D. Willis, S.M., when sentencing the London Book Shop, Ltd., and Beckett and Stirling, Ltd., publishers and booksellers, on a charge of importing a prohibited publication. 1 The Magistrate dismissed the charge on December 5. 196 i. and the Customs Department brought the case to the Court of Appeal which ruled 2-1 against Mr Willis’s decision.
