FLIGHTS TO AUSTRALIA

Increase For Next Year An increase in the number of trans-Tasman flights from Christchurch Internaticnai Airport to Sydney and Melbourne has been announced by T.E.A.L. and Qantas. The changes are contained in the flight schedules for the next 12 months, which were announced yesterday. Departure times for the various flights will also be altered to permit easier connexions for passengers travel, ling from points north or south of Christchurch. The changes come into effect on April 1. From the beginning of April to the end of September there will be a higher frequency of flights between Christchurch and Melbourne, providing two services a week. The aircraft will leave Christchurch at 7 p.m., arriving in Melbourne at 9.40 p.m. Australian time.

There will be four services a week to Sydney, except in June and July when there will be three. From the beginning of November to the end of February there will be five services a week to Sydney. In March. 1964. the number of flights from Christchurch to Sydney will be increased to six.

In October this year T.E.A.L. and Qantas will introduce a weekly direct flight from Wellington to Melbourne. In November a Wellington to Brisbane service will be introduced. The number of return services from Australian points to Christchurch will also be increased Flight times will be altered to synchronise with the departures from Christchurch. Flights from Australia will land at Harewood about 6 p.m.
