Not All Small Talk
(Neio Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND, March 28. Exhibits in the Australian trade pavilion at the Auckland Easter Show have already caught the eye and the cheque books of New Zealand businessmen. Eighty per cent, of the industrial machinery displayed has already been sold for £16,000 and the pavilion was officially opened only tonight. Even at the opening ceremony it was not all small talk. An Australian textile
exhibitor clinched a deal over cocktails for £lOO6 worth of material. An Auckland firm has bought a £6250 plastic moulding machine capable of turning out 3500 small articles an hour. One Australian company had to rush over a second heavy lathe for the pavilion after the first exhibit was snapped up by the Ministry of Works to replace equipment lost in the workshops fire at the Benmore hydro-electric project.
