GIRL GUIDE RALLY
About 2000 To Take Part The North Canterbury Provincial Girl Guide Association plans to hold the biggest combined rally organised for many years, on April 6 at the Riccarton racecourse. About 2000 Rangers, Girl Guides and Brownies from all parts of the north, east and west Canterbury areas, as well as lone guides from isolated country districts will take part. Beginning at 2 p.m. with a march past, led by massed colours, the programme will include the ceremony of breaking the colours, activities by Brownies, flag work displays by girl guides, and demonstrations by cadets, air, land and sea rangers. i An international item, in which girl guides will give displays wearing the uniforms of the 52 member countries of the World Association of Girl Guides, will also be presented. Speakers will be the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr G. Manninf) and the Chief Commissioner (Miss H. R. Herrick). The St. Andrew’s College band will be in attendance.
Call for Blood.— Forty donors of type A rhesus positive blood attended the blood bank yesterday in response to a call for blood for a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital. The patient was later reported to be progressing.
