FIVE SWIMMING RECORDS
Breaststroke Time Lasts A Day
Five provincial records were broken in a series of specie! races arranged by the Canterbury Swimming Centre at the Centennial Pool on Tuesday and Wednesday. One new record, for the 55 yards girls under 12 breaststroke, only lasted a day. Miss R. McKenzie (Elmwood) set a figure of 47.1eec on Tuesday evening and on Wednesday evening Miss E. Pearce (Spreydon) reduced It to M.tsec.
The new records, with the previous record in parenthesis, are:—llo yards men’s backstroke, W. Williamson (Elmwood), 1:10.4 (1:10.9): 55 yards boys' under 12 freestyle, P. Hay (Elmwood), 34.1 (34.8); 55 yards girls’ butterfly under 14, Miss B. Poulsen (Spreydon), 42.2 (42.8).
